Microblading

Microblading

Overview

Microblading is a semi-permanent eyebrow “tattoo”  lasting 1-3 years and consisting of multiple tiny hair-like strokes that precisely mimic the texture, color, and pattern of eyebrow hair. This is performed completely manually with a hand-held tool called a microblade. The strokes are individually etched directly on the skin underneath your natural eyebrow and once healed they will blend in with the natural hair creating a more full and defined look.

As opposed to your standard tattoo, the ink is deposited right in the upper layers of the skin, never fully penetrating the dermis. The client is numbed with a topical numbing cream making it virtually painless. It is a two-part (at least) process.

After the first session, a mandatory 4-8 week touch-up is required to ensure the eyebrows are the perfect color, shade, and shape. The two sessions each take about 2 hours followed by a 10-day healing period. We recommend that clients schedule a touch-up visit once a year to maintain the shape and ensure pigment retention.

FAQ

What is Microblading?

Microblading is a semi-permanent eyebrow tattoo.

How much does it cost?

Microblading is a two-part process that costs $550. This price includes the initial session and one touch-up 4-8 weeks later. Any touch-up after that is $175.

How long does it last?

1-3 years. Annual touch-ups will extend the life of your microblading.

Does it hurt?

The client is numbed with a topical numbing cream (Lidocane 5%) making it virtually painless. Most people rate the pain 0-3 on a scale of 10.

What about my natural eyebrow hair?

Microblading does not affect natural hair growth, which means you will continue to have to maintain the shape as you normally do (threading, waxing, etc.)

What is the down time?

After each session, there is a 10-day healing period. Please see “After-Care” for an in-depth explanation of everything involved with the healing process. Please note, although it is possible to do in the summer, it is better to have microblading done in the winter because the healing process involves avoiding the sun, sweating, and water.

How is the shape / color decided?

At either the first appointment or the consultation (if you choose to book a free consultation) the artist will spend the majority of the time brow mapping and drawing directly on your face to determine the shape that will look best based on your unique features and preferences. The microblading process will not begin until the client is 100% comfortable with the shape. The shape can be edited and changed at the touch-up so it is best to start slow and build it up.

West Chester Eyebrows carries the best, most high quality pigments available. A custom color will be mixed based on the natural undertones of skin and hair. Clients preference is also highly considered (for example, if you always fill in your brows darker than some people would want to go darker with their microblading color) either way it is the artist’s responsibility to uphold their personal standards for their work and make sure it is undetectably natural looking.

Why do I need 2 appointments?

The results will not be the same for everyone. The touch-up appointment (which is 4-8 weeks after the original appointment) comes as an opportunity for the microblading professional to settle any of the undesired development that may have happened during the healing process and to ensure the right color, shade, and shape.

How do I make an appointment and how much does it cost?

Microblading is a two-part process that in total costs $550.00. This price includes the initial session and one touch-up 4-8 week after that appointment.

What methods of payment do you accept?

Cash, Venmo, Credit Card (including American Express) or Check made out to “West Chester Eyebrows.”

Do I need a consultation?

No. Consultations for microblading are not required for everyone, but free consultations are always offered. Even if you are just curious and looking for more information, you may schedule a free consultation. Consultations are required for those over the age of 60 and those with previously tattooed eyebrows.

Do you work on previously tattooed eyebrows?

If you have been previously microbladed by another artist and it is still visible, it will be considered a cover-up. I only take on cover-up appointments on a case-by-case basis. If you already have microblading from another artist, you must come in for a consultation or send a high-quality picture prior to scheduling. If you are then scheduled for a cover-up, you will be charged the full price. Annual touch-ups are only offered for those who had their original microblading done by me.

The Process

1. PAPERWORK

2. MAPPING

3. NUMBING

4. COLOR

The client arrives for their appointment and begins to fill out a bit of paperwork.

Once completed, the client sits upright on the table, the eyebrow area is thoroughly cleansed and the mapping process begins.

Once the perfect shape has been produced and it is approved, the client is numbed with topical numbing cream. We use 5% Lidocaine and it is extremely effective.

During the numbing process a custom color will be mixed based on clients preference and natural undertones of skin and hair.

5. MICROBLADING

6. TOUCH-UP

7. MAINTENANCE

8. ENJOY YOUR BROWS!

After 25 minutes of numbing, the client lays down and the microblading process starts. The artist will go back and forth from one brow to the other until desired results have been reached.

The client returns in 4-8 weeks and the process is repeated. Then (for most) it is complete. Some clients require one more touch-up session after this one.

Usually the only maintenance needed is a touch-up once a year.
